Ember is one of our largest cats. She is a beautiful black smoke Maine Coon. We let our social media followers name her, and a surprising number of people suggested she be named Ember because her coloring reminded them of cooled embers from a fire.

Ember loves to bask in the sun. The sun turns black (and black smoke) cats brown. We opted to let Ember enjoy her days lazing in the sun and skip out on being a show cat even though I’m certain she would do very well in the ring. She is our pet first and foremost and we want her to enjoy her kitty life to the fullest. For Ember, that means laying on her cat tree in front of the window and not strutting her stuff in front of judges. Just know if you meet Ember in person, her coat will very likely be a bit chocolatey and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
